The Duncan Legacy Ranch Brand includes a lot of heritage, a lot of family input, and perfectly represents the dream they're dedicated to keeping in the family. ๐ฎ๐
The Duncan family arrived in America before the Revolutionary War and made their way to Texas in the late 1800's to purchase the land they still sit on to this day. Although many generations have grown up here, the land was sold outside the family in the 1960s. Fifty years later the Duncan family bought back this same ground, with a new vision - converting the property from farm to a longhorn cattle operation.
The Duncans are doing the exact same thing that I think many, many of us dream of doing. Reclaiming the family heritage, restoring decades old family-land, buying back the ranch, and making a lasting impact for their children and future generations to come. They're establishing a real LEGACY - and here at Western Identity, we are so grateful to have been able to help with this feat.ย
And yes, we say "feat" because registering a usable Cattle or Horse Brand isn't always as easy as turning in your first idea to the state brand board. In fact, Texas is the only state that has a county-level brand application and approval abilities. Designing a Livestock Brand in Texas doesn't just require knowing where to go, who to talk to, and what forms to fill out - but also being able to search the current brand book for any potentially conflicting designs, pivoting if needed, and making sure you're following any and all design regulations.ย
When it comes to designing your cattle brand, we know you can't just go off of "what looks good". There's a science to designing for the hot iron, an electric iron, or a freeze brand. There's differences to what will turn out on a cow vs. a horse. And oftentimes, there's strict regulations on what symbols and letters you can and can't use.
